It's our family tradition (from mark) to go to the County Fair when it rolls into town. Last week was the fair, so the 2nd night it was open we met our friends there (with their 2 kids). The kids had a BLAST!! And we did, too. Picture on the left shows what josie looked like when we got home. Jakob fell asleep on the way home, of course. Both kids came home with whistles, crazy yoyos, light-up stuff. It was so much fun! Josie went on the kid's dragon roller coaster and had a huge smile on her face the whole time. Jakob really enjoyed the motorcycles (i think the same ones that mark went on as a kid). Jakob thought it was so funny that his motorcycle was popping a wheelie.
We went again on Saturday afternoon with the extended family, which included mom & dad, mark's mom, mike, matt, stephanie & kayla. The kids had fun again! Of course. We checked out all the animals again & the kids wanted to go on more rides. Josie & kayla went on the kid's roller coaster. Josie didn't like it so much the 2nd time. They were in the back this time & she was getting whipped around pretty good. The kids all got their face painted, too. How can you go to the fair & not get your face painted? In this pict, we have kayla, stephanie, jakob & josie. The whole time we were in line waiting, jakob kept changing his mind about what he wanted. First he wanted a dog, then elephant, then purple elephant, then purple car, then green car. When he sat down in the chair for his turn, i had no idea what he was going to tell the guy. Much to my surprise (and delight-something normal) he chose a green tractor! He was so serious the whole time the guy was painting his face (see below)Josie knew she wanted a unicorn from the moment she got in line.
Despite the hot weather (i know, it's july, what can i expect?!?), we had a great time. In fact, jakob had such a great time that he keeps asking when we're going again. We drove past the place where it was set up, just so he could see that all the festivities were gone. He was so sad. Ah well, next year will be even better. Josie was a bit sad at the fair, because she wasn't tall enough to go on any of the bigger kid rides (like the orbiter & the cliff hanger). Maybe next year she'll be tall enough & then it'll be even more expensive .... errr... fun, i mean.
