Halloween fun E-mail
Written by Eric Van

camden_spiderman_maverick_giraffe_sml.jpgOk, so it's been a long while since I've posted anything out here.  Maverick is 5 months old if that tells you anything.  So per request I figured I would toss our Halloween pics out.  Camden loved it this year.  He was Spiderman and loved going from house to house asking for candy.  He thought that was pretty cool.

He surprisingly did great putting on his costume and sitting still to put on all the face paint.  He'll be 3 at Christmas, so for a 2 and a half year old to sit that still was pretty cool.

Maverick "dressed up" as a giraffe and was very cute.  He was asleep two houses in, so he was great.  And the giraffe costume was heacy enough that it kept him nice and warm all night.

The Baby is here E-mail
Written by Eric Van

Maverick Michael 1 day oldAfter many months of waiting, our new son arrived on Tuesday June 24th at 10:34pm.

He was 8 lbs 1 oz, and 20 inches long.  Mommy and baby are doing great.

After a lot of debating, we named him Maverick Michael...

So far he's a very good baby.  Doesn't cry too much, **fingers crossed**, and he's eating very good.

Mommy actually said that the birth and delivery went pretty good, so that's great.

Anyway, back to the baby, I'm sure that I'll write some more about him and upload more pictures later.

Norn on the bob E-mail
Written by Eric Van

Cam and Dad making goofy facesFor all of you out there with toddlers, you will know exactly what I'm talking about when I say toddler translations.  Camden is almost two and a half, and he talks and talks and talks....  Unfortunately, Sharla and I are sometimes the only ones that can understand what he's saying.  So, I've decided to help out a little bit, and provide some toddler translations for Camden.

I'll start off with Norn on the bob.  This one he says clearly, and it's when he is eating his corn on the cob.  It's hilarious, norn is his word for corn.  Sharla and I tried a throwback to the Beavis and Butthead days and asked him to say "Cornholio".  He says "Nornholio" great now, but the first time we asked him he said "Norn A-hole", which made Sharla and I just bust out laughing.

Almost time to pop out the new boy E-mail
Written by Eric Van

Well, it's the 15th of May, and the baby is due on the 23rd of June.  We're getting to a point that at any time we might have to rush to the hospital.  It's crazy to think that we're going to have another little one to take care of.ultrasoundname2.jpg

We still have a problem though.  What the heck to name the kid.  We know it's a boy, and we know he's coming soon, but we are just struggling like crazy with a name.  We have it narrowed down to 2 or 3, (which obviously I'm not going to put out here since my family reads this) but we aren't sold 100% on any of them.  Pretty soon it's going to just come down to a point where we need to make a decision.  And that time is coming pretty soon.

Camden still doing good in the big bed? 4/9/08 E-mail
Written by Eric Van
So my last post was saying how great Camden was doing in the new big bed.  And he really did great that first night.  Since then, however it seems to be a little more difficult to get him to just lay down and go to sleep.  We sit at the end of the bed on his bench after he drinks his water, and he just doesn't want to go to sleep.  He gets very upset if we leave the room, so we don't want to just ditch him in there and let him "cry it out".  So we end up sitting at the end of his bed for 40-50 minutes until he settles down and goes to sleep.

Camden is finally in the big bed E-mail
Written by Eric Van
With the new baby coming in June, we needed to free up the crib for the baby, and do it in time to make sure that Camden was comfortable in the new bed, and not wanting to get back into the crib.  Talk about nervous, we had no idea how it was going to go, and were obviously pretty hesitant about it.  First we put it off because Cam was getting a tooth, and then because he had a cold.  Finally we just decided.  It's this weekend, and he's going in the big bed.

Done with the sickness / The Bucket E-mail
Written by Eric Van

Three days of our two year old puking all over us and himself, 1 day of Sharla puking, but three days of her feeling like crap, and 4 days of me with a 102 fever and no food staying down.  This flu season is horrible.  It sounds like a ton of people have it, and it's not fun anytime or anywhere.  Dealing with it and a toddler is no joy either.  A couple weeks later I'm mostly caught up on work, and the house has been sterilized.  Woohoo.

Eric's Blog - Tried the naughty chair on my 2 year old E-mail
Written by Administrator
Camden in bucket.jpgSo Sunday comes around at our household and we decide to do a bunch of cleaning.  The files get cleaned out and shredded, laundry gets done, and Camden gets a taste of the naughty chair.

I'm sure that many of you have seen Supernanny and the fabulous miracle that is the naughty chair.  In a 15 minute segment they show these crazy kids go from terrors to treats.  What they fail to show you is the hours upon hours of frustration from the parents who are trying to get their kids to stay in the chair.  Well, this weekend we experienced just that.

Eric's Blog - Sniffles, and moving to a big boy bed E-mail
Written by Eric Van

Winter colds are the worst.  We are finally getting over them.  My wife is pregnant, so her immune system is lower and she ended up with a sinus infection.  Wow what a pain in the butt all the sniffles are.  So then, Camden, my 2 year old finally kicks the cold.  He's really feeling better, so that's good.  And he decides to get a tooth.  So he's still crabby.  But I do have to say that he is sleeping better.

We had a hard time with sleeptime for a while with him.  We admit that we rocked him to sleep WAAAAYYY too long, but when we felt he was ready, and he really was, we put him in his crib, and sat by him until he fell asleep.  That worked well, he seemed to really get it.  Then the best happened when I asked him if he wanted me on the chair or in the other room, and he actually said "other room".  So I left and he fell asleep.  It was awesome.  Angel choirs sang, and we were happy.  It's been decent since then.

The next big step in the process is putting him in a big bed.
We are curious how it's going to go in the big bed.  He's going from his crib to a full size bed.  It's a bunk bed that we had previously, and we didn't feel like buying a new twin bed and tearing down the bunk bed.  We have it outfitted with spiderman blankets and sheets, and a spiderman toy chest at the bottom of the bed.  We haven't tried to move him yet, but we're anxiously awaiting how that goes.  Our deadline is just to get him in the new bed and comfortable before the new baby comes in June.  Wish us luck, I'll keep everyone posted.
